Ethiopia: Yelushen Alsemashe Gebeya Balwetashe

by Tedla Asfaw
“Comment: South Sudan can learn a lot from Ethiopia when it rewrites its constitution in the coming days as part of the agreement. Ethiopia has learned the hard way that forced assimilation and forced union is not an option! For a country with a crippling poverty and multi ethnic population, Ethnic Federalism, is the way to go!”
Can we allow those who are now put in one basket as “The Southern People” under the Ethnic Federalism to be allowed to form their ethnic enclave ?? How comes Sidama, Wolaita, Kembata is less than those who have their own “Kilil” ?? Ethiopia has more than 80 ethnic groups and needs according to the comment above 80 Kilils. The current Ethnic Federalism is discriminatory.Should South Sudan can learn a lot from Ethiopia?
How comes South Africa was not redrawn as “White Kilil” and “Black Kilil” Why not our neighbors Kenya and Uganda.
The Ethiopian people will need to dismantle Ethnic Federalism and replace it by “Federalism” based on cultural and economic interest of our people. Ethnic Federalism is not different than Apartheid Bantusta it is backward and those that promote such failed idea are a very minority people who benefited from the current system.
