ሃይማኖትና ፖለቲካ በኢትዮጵያ – በዶ/ር ብርሃኑ ነጋ

1. መግቢያ:
ካለፈው ሁለት አመት ግድም ጀምሮ “መንግሥት በዲናችን ጣልቃ አይግባብን” በሚል ሰፊ ማእቀፍ ውስጥ በሰላማዊ መንገዶ በኢትዮጵያውያን ሙስሊሞች እየተደረገ ያለው ትግሌ፤ በኦርቶዶክስ ቤተክርስቲያን ውስጥ ደግሞ ሁለት አስርት አመታትን ያስቆጠረ ከቀኖናው ውጭ መንግሥት የቤተክርስቲያኑን መሪ አይምረጥብን በሚል በመሰረታዊ ሀሳቡ ከሙስሉሙ ጥያቄ ጋር ተመሳሳይ በሆነ ጉዳይ በተነሳ ውዝግብ ቤተክርስቲያኒቱ ለሁለት ተከፍላ ያለችበት ሁኔታና በዚህም ምክንያት በመንግሥት የተገፋው “ስደተኛው ሲኖዶስ” በራሱ ላይ የደረሰውን ሁከት በመቃወም የሚያደርጋቸው እንቅስቃሴዎች ተዳምረው ምናልባት ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ ጤነኛ የሆነው የሀይማኖትና የፖለቲካ ግንኙነት ምንዶን ነው? ወይንም ደግሞ የመንግሥትና የሀይማኖት ግንኙነት ምን መሆን አለበት? የሚለውን ጥያቄ ጉዳዩ በቀጥታ ከሚመለከታቸው የሀይማኖቱ ተከታዮች አልፎ ያጠቃላይ የፖለቲካ ማህበረሰቡ (የሀገሩ) ትልቅ የመወያያ አርዕስት እየሆነ ነው:: ይህ ጉዳይ ግን ጥቅል ከሆነ ያመለካከትና የንድፈ ሀሳብ ጥያቄ በተጨማሪ ጥልቅና አስቸኳይ የሆነ የተግባር ፖለቲካ ጥያቄም ነው ይዞ የመጣው::

ምንም እንኳን ከቀዳማዊ ኃይለ ስላሴ አገዛዝ ጀምሮ “ሀይማኖት የግል ነው: ሀገር የጋራ ነው” በሚል አጠቃላይ መፈክር ስር ሀይማኖትና መንግሥት መገናኘት የለባቸውም የሚል አመለካከት በሁለም ዘንድ ተቀባይነት ያለው ቢመስልም፤ በተግባር ግን ይህ ግንኙነት በተለያዩ ምክንያቶችና መንገዶች በቅርብ ዘመን በነበሩት ሁለም አይነት አገዛዞች እየተጣሰ አመለካከቱን ከመፈክር ያለፈ ተጨባጭ ትርጉም የለለው አድርገውታል:: ያገዛዝ ስርዓቶች ካፈጣጠራቸው ዋና ትኩረታቸው በስልጣን መቆየት ስለሆነ ይህን አላማቸውን ለማሳካት እናምንባቸዋለን የሚሎቸውን መርሆችም እንኳን ለመደፍጠጥ ወደኋላ እንደማይሉ ይታወቃል:: በዚህም ምክንያት አሁን ካለው ሥርዓት በፊት የነበሩትም ያገዛዝ ስርዓቶች ለስልጣናችን ይጠቅመናል ባሉ ጊዜ ሀይማኖትን ለመጠቀም፤ በሀይማኖቶች አሰራር ላይ ጣልቃ መግባት፤ እንደሁኔታው በሀይማኖቶች መሀል ማበላለጥ…ወዘተ የመሰለ ጣልቃ ገብነቶች ተጠቅመዋል:: በዚህም ምክንያት በተለያዩ ጊዜዎች በሀይማኖት ተቋማትና በመንግሥት ወይንም በተለያየ ሀይማኖት ተከታዮች መሀከል የተለያዩ ደረጃዎች ያሎቸው ውጥረቶች ተከስተዋል:: ያም ሆኖ ግን በዚህ በወያኔ ስርዓት የደረሰውን ያክል ፍጥጫና ውጥረት እኔ እስከማውቀው ዶረስ በቅርብ ጊዜ ታሪካችን ደርሶ አያውቅም:: በዚህም ምክንያት ይመስለኛል ይህ ጉዲይ የፖለቲካችን አብይ ጉዳይ መሆኑ::   ……

Finland’s envoy exposes “the dark side” of Ethiopia’s regime

At the end of his four-year duty tour in Ethiopia as Finland’s Ambassador, Mr. Leo Olasvirta made some observations in his August 14, 2013 article, which appears on the Finnish Foreign Ministry webpage (in Finnish), highlighting Ethiopia’s contributions to the stability of the surrounding troubled Horn of Africa countries.
In his elaboration, he attributes this to Ethiopia’s  strength, especially its active role in promoting peace and good neighborly policy. This has become necessary with aim of avoiding escalating situations in neighboring countries that “could jeopardize  the country’s economy and prosperity.”
Regarding the poor record of the regime in human rights, Ambassador Olasvirta was upfront in stating, “Ethiopia does not have respect for human rights nor does the state have a democratic model”, although the country is relatively safe and stable. In other words, he cites as an example the fact that this far Ethiopia has not experienced a major terrorist attack, at a time when Islamic fundamentalists are trying to draw the region into their sphere.
On the other hand, the ambassador notes that Ethiopia’s major challenge is “the authoritarian regime and its democratic deficit.” He refers to this as “Ethiopia’s dark side.”
To amplify what he meant by that, he pointed out  human rights violations that occur from time to time, with the arrests of activists and journalists. He links this to the open-ended anti-terrorism law, empowering the state to violate at will the human rights of its citizens. He says, “The Anti-terrorism law is formulated in such a way that a mere opinion, or contact with suspected individuals could trigger an investigation and the consequent criminality.”
Furthermore, Ambassador Leo Olasvirta observes, “Rough governance is justified by concerns about external and internal threats.” The fact is that, these are means they use “to justify strengthening the regime’s powers.”
As far as the economy is concerned, the ambassador believes that “the regime has chosen a game of chance”, promising the country that it would become middle-income. In the meantime, it urges and expects, he says, people “to be obedient and self-sacrificing”, as they await future rewards.
What this has done to the country’s reality is that, the ambassador opines, with political and economic power concentrated in the regime, people are “feeling excluded, while under the surface their rebelliousness smoldering.”
In turning his attention to the frauds perpetrated in the 2010 election, in which he recalls the ruling party took 99.6 percent of the votes, Ambassador Olasvirta says, “In the 2010 elections, the House got only one opposition representative; and in the local elections in 2013, again the dominant party received almost one hundred percent of the vote.”
His concern now is that the next election, for which there is not “enough time for democratic reforms, because of which the pressure is increasing.”
As far as Finland is concerned, he says, “Finland has had bilateral talks clearly emphasizing the need for poverty reduction, promotion of human rights, good governance, the information society, the rights of civil societies, peace and security, as well as the importance of land registration and eliminating discrimination against minorities.”
In 2013, Finland’s bilateral aid to Ethiopia is about 15.7 million euros. The next bilateral cooperation cycle between the two countries covers the period from 2013-2016.
In terms of Ethiopia-Finland trade, to date it is limited to a paltry five million euros. The hope for the future is Ethiopia possibly being interested in Finnish cargo equipment, as it is engaged in expansion of Ethiopian Airlines cargo services

“አንድነት ፓርቲ ሳይገድል እየሞተ ህገ-መንግስቱን የማስከበር ሰላማዊ ትግሉን አጠንክሮ ዛሬም ወደፊትም ይቀጥላል፡፡” የሚለውን መርሃቸውን አንድነቶች ካስተዋወቁን ከርመዋል። ባለፈው ሳምንት በባሌ ሮቤ እና በፍቼ ኦሮምያ የተተከሉት መረን የለቀቁ አምባገነን አስተዳደሮች እና ደህንነቶች የፈጸሙባቸውን ወደር የለሽ የአንደበት፣ የሳይኮሎጂ እና የአካል ጥቃት በፈገግታ በመቀበል እየሞቱ ሳይገድሉ በሰላማዊ ትግል ህገ-መንግስቱን ለማስከበር ያላቸውን ጽናት ደግመው አሳይተውናል አንድነቶች። አንድነቶች የሚሰብኩትን የሚፈጽሙ መሆናቸውን ኢትዮጵያ እንደገና ባለፈው ሳምንት ተመልክታለች። የባሌ ሮቤ እና የፍቼ አምባገነን አስተዳዳሪዎች እና ደህንነቶች አረመኔነት አሳፋሪ ነበር። በፍጹም የስልጣኔ አየር የነፈሰባቸው አይመስሉም። ዘመናዊ አስተሳሰብ ለአንድ ቀንም የጎበኛቸው አይመስሉም። ይባስ ብሎ የባሌ ሮቢ እና የፍቼ አስተዳዳሪዎች እና ደህንነቶች ከህጋዊ የመንግስት መዋቅር ውጪ ጸረ-ነፃነት ወረበሎች (ቦዘኔዎች) ያደራጁ ይመስላሉ። ይኽ ጉዳይ ጥናት ሊደረገበት ይገባል።
በባሌ ሮቢ ኦሮሚያ ያየነው አፈና እስከአሁን በሰሜን ኢትዮጵያ እና በደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ካስተዋልናቸው አፈናዎች ሁሉ ዘግናኝ ነበር። የመቀሌው አፈና የተፈጸመው የድምጽ ማጉያ በመከልከል፣ የመቀስቀሻ በራሪ ወረቀቶችን በመንጠቅ፣ እና አንድነቶችን በማሰር እንደነበር እናስታውሳለን። የባሌ ሮቤ አምባገነኖች ግን ህውሃት በመቀሌ የፈጸመውን በሙሉ ቢፈጽሙም የአንድነቶችን በታጋሽነት እና በጽናት የታነጸ ሰላማዊ ትግል ሊያቆሙት አለመቻላቸውን ሲገነዘቡ ተራ ማስፈራራት ጀመሩ። ሐሙስ ነሃሴ 16 ቀን 2005 ዓ.ም. የአንድነት ፓርቲ ተወካዮች ከባሌ ሮቤ ከተማ ከንቲባ፣ ምክትል ከንቲባ፣ የፀጥታ ዘርፍ ሃላፊ እና ከከተማው ካቢኔዎች ጋር 3 ሰዓት የፈጀ ውይይት አደረጉ። በዚኽ ውይይት ላይ ነበር የባሌ ሮቢ ባለስልጣኖች “አንድነት ሰላማዊ ሰልፉን ማድረግ አይችልም፤ እኛ ከፍተኛ የሆነ የፀጥታ ስጋት አለብን፡፡ የቀድሞው ጠ/ሚር አቶ መለስ በፓርላማ እንደተናገሩት በአካባቢያችን የአልቃይዳ ክንፍ አለ” የሚል ማስፈራሪያ አዘል በማሰማት ለሰላማዊ ሰልፉ ትብብር መንፈጋቸውን የገለጹት። እሁድ በተቃረበ ቁጥር የባሌ ሮቤ አምባገነኖች ማስፈራሪያ እና ዛቻ ግለቱ እየጨመረ ቢሄድም አንድነቶችን ሊያስቆም አልቻለም። በዚኽን ጊዜ “እሁድ የገበያ ቀን ስለሆነ ሰልፍ ማድረግ አይቻልም። ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ ከተደረገ ደም ይፈሳል።” ማለት ጀመሩ የባሌ ሮቢ ባለስልጣኖች።
የአንድነቶችን ጽናት፣ ትዕግስት፣ ሰላማዊነት እና ቁርጠኛነት መስበር እና ሰልፉን ማሰናከል አለመቻላቸውን ሲገነዘቡ የባሌ ሮቤ ባለስልጣናት ቅዳሜ ምሽት ለእሁድ አጥቢያ የአንድነት ፓርቲ አመራሮች እና አባላትን ካረፉበት ሆቴል በግዳጅ አስወጥተው አገቱ። በዚኽን ጊዜ ነበር የቀሩት አንድነቶች ሰላማዊ ሰልፉ እንዳይደረግ የወሰኑት። የመጣው ይምጣ ብሎ ሰልፍ በመውጣት በመሃይም አምባገነኖች የሰለጠነ የሰላም ትግል ሰራዊት ማስመታት ስህተት ነው። ሰላማዊ ሰልፉ እንዲቀር መደረጉ ትክክለኛ ውሳኔ ነው። በድስፕሊን የታነጹ ሰላማዊ ትግል መሪዎች ገና ዘመቻውን ሲጀምሩ መቼ ማቆም እንዳለባቸውም ጭምረው ያውቃሉ። ይኽ ብስለት ያላቸው ጀግኖች የሚያደርጉት ማፈግፈግ ነው። በዚኽ አይነት ነበር እሁድ ቀን ነሐሴ 19 ቀን 2005 ዓ.ም. በባሌ ሮቤ የታቀደውን የሚሊዮኖችን ድምጽ ለነፃነት ዘመቻ የታፈነው። በዚኽ አይነት ነበር በባሌ ሮቤ አካባቢ አለ ሲሉን የነበረው ሽብርተኛ የአልቃይዳ ቅርንጫፍ እራሳቸው የባሌ ሮቤ ባለስልጣኖች መሆናቸውን ያረጋገጡልን። ይኽ ሁሉ ሲፈጸም የባሌ ሮቤ ወጣቶች ከአንድነት ፓርቲ ጎን መቆማቸውን ኢትዮጵያችን ልታውቅ ይገባል።
ፍቼ ሌላዋ ከተማ ናት። የመጀመሪያው ሁለት አባላትን ይዞ ፍቼ የገባው የሰላማዊ ሰልፍ ቅስቀሳ ቡድን በፍቼ አስተዳደር እና ደህንነት ካድሬዎች ከፍተኛ ድብደባ ተፈጸመበት። የእጅም የእግርም ጉዳቶች ደርሰባቸው ሁለቱ የዴሞክራሲ ሰራዊቶች። አንድነቶች በደረሰው ጥቃት አልተፈቱም። እንዲያውም ጊዜ ሳያባክኑ አዲስ ቡድን ወደ ፍቼ በመላክ ለነሐሴ 19 ቀን ያቀዱትን የሚሊዮኖች ድምጽ ለነጻነት ዘመቻ ለማሳካት ጎንበስ ቀና ማለት ጀመሩ። በዚኽ እርምጃቸው አንድነቶች በማይነቃነቅ ድስፕሊን የታነጹት የሰላማዊ ትግል ሐዋርያት መሆናቸውን ለፍቼ ህዝብ አሳዩ። እየሞቱ ሳይገሉ ህገ መንግስታዊ መብት ለማስከበር ያላቸውን ቁርጠኛነት አንድነቶች አስመሰከሩ። አንድነቶች የሚሉትን የሚፈጽሙ የሰብዓዊ መብቶች አስከባሪ ወታደሮች መሆናቸውን ፍቼዎች በአድናቆት አስተዋሉ። ይኽን ያስተዋሉት የፍቼ ወጣቶች ለአንድነቶች ትብብር መለገስ ጀመሩ። የፍቼ አስተዳደር እና ደህንነቶች ያሰማሩዋቸው ቦዘኔዎች በፍቼ ከተማ የሚገኘውን የአንድነት ፓርቲ ጽ/ቤት ለመስበር ሲሞክሩ የፍቼ ወጣቶች ድርጊቱን በመቃወም ከአንድነቶች ጎን ተሰለፉ። በፍቼ የተደረገው ሰላማዊ ሰልፍም ቢሆን በአንድነቶች እና በፍቼ ወጣቶች ሰላማዊነት እና ጽናት የተገኘ እንደነበር ኢትዮጵያ በአድናቆት አስተውላለች።
ሶስተኛው የእሁድ ነሃሴ 19 ቀን 2005 የሚሊዮኖች ድምጽ ለነጻነት ዘመቻ እቅድ በአዳማ/ናዝሬት ከተማ ማድረግ እንደነበር ይታወቃል። ይሁን እንጂ የአዳማ ከተማ አስተዳደር ከአንድነት ፓርቲ ለተጻፈለት ደብዳቤ ነሃሴ 19 በከተማው ስብሰባ መኖሩ እና የኃይል እጥረትም እንዳለበት ጠቅሶ ሰላማዊ ሰልፉን አንድነት ፓርቲ ወደ ጷጉሜ 3 ቀን 2005 ዓ.ም እንዲያዛውር ጠይቋል። አንድነት ፓርቲም የቀረበለትን ጥያቄ መቀበሉን ገልጿል። የአዳማ/ናዝሬት ከተማ አስተዳደር ህገ መንግስታዊ እውቅና ካለው አንድነት ፓርቲ ጋር በዚኽ አይነት ስልጡን እና ተራማጅ መንገድ ከስስምምነት መድረሱ ከባሌ ሮቤ እና ከፍቼ ከተማዎች አምባገነን አስተዳዳሪዎች ፍጹም የተለየ አድርጎታል። ከሁለቱ ከተሞች አስተዳደሮች የአዳማ ከተማ አስተዳደር የተሻለ መሆኑን ኢትዮጵያ ብቻ ሳትሁን አልመ አስተውሏል። በዚኽ እርምጃው የአዳማ/ናዝሬት አስተዳደር ሊመሰገን ይገባዋል። ሊኮራም ይገባዋል። ኋላቀሮቹ የባሌ ሮቤ እና የፍቼ አምባገነን አስተዳደሮች ሊያፍሩ ይገባል። የሚያስተዳድሩትን ህዝባቸውን በንቀት አፍነውታል። እነዚህን ሁለት ከተሞች ለጉብኝትም ሆነ ለንግድ የሚጓጉ ከተሞች እንዳይሆኑ አድርገዋል እነዚህ አስተዳዳሪዎች። የሚያስተዳድሩትን ህዝብ እና የቀረውን አለም ይቅርታ ሊጠይቁ ይገባል። በእነዚህ እና በመሳሰሉት ከተሞች ላይ ለዲሞክራሲ ስርዓት ግንባታ የሚፈሰው ገንዘብ ከምንጩ ቁጥጥር ሊደረግበት ይገባል። ከምንጩ ስል ለጋሽ አገሮችን ይጨምራል። ተዳባዳቢነት ዴሞክራሲያዊነት አይደለም! መሃይምነት ነው።
ለአንባቢያን፥
“እየሞትን ሳንገድል ህገ-መንግስት የማስከበር ሰላማዊ ትግላችንን እንቀጥላለን” የሚለው የአንድነቶች መርህ ከምራቸው እንደሆነ ባልፈው ሳምንትም አስተውለናል። ፍጹም ሰላማዊነታቸው እና የመርህ ጽናታቸው በሚፈጸምባቸው የአካል ድብደባ እንደማይነቃነቅ ፍቼ ላይ አይተናል። በዚኽ ባለፈው የፈተና ሳምንት አንድነቶች መኪና በመከራየት፣ ወረቀቶች በማሳተም፣ ለህክምና ወጪ ባማድረግ እና ለተለያዩ ጉዳዮች ብዙ ወጪዎች እንዳደረጉ መገንዘብ አያዳግትም። ትግሉ የጋራ በመሆኑ ቋሚ ተመልካች መሆን ያዳግታል። የኢትዮጵያ ጉዳይ ያገባናል ለምንል በሙሉ የዳር ተመልካች መሆን ያዳግተናል። በባሌ ሮቤ እና በፍቼ በአንድነቶች ላይ የደረሰውን አይተን እና ሰምተን እጃችንን አጥፈን መቀመጥ ህሊናችንን ያዳግተዋል። የዜግነት ሚና መጫውት ያልጀመርን መጀመር፣ የጀመርን ደግሞ መቀጠል አለበን። ተሳትፎዋችንን ማሳደግ አለብን። አንድነቶች አንድም ክፉ ቃል ሳይሰነዝሩ እና ፈገግታ ከፊታቸው ሳይለያቸው ይኽን ሁሉ ስቃይ የሚቀበሉት ለግላቸው ብር ለማካበት እንዳልሆነ ግልጽ ነው። እየሞቱ ሳይገድሉ በአምባገነነኑ መለስ የረቀቀውን ፀረ-ሽብር ህግን ለማሰረዝ እና የኢትዮጵያችንን የፖለቲካ ትግል ባህል ለመቀየር እንደሆነ ልቦናችን ያውቀዋል። ስለዚህም አንድነቶች የጀመሩትን የሚሊዮኖች ድምጽ ለነፃነት ዘመቻ በመቀላቀል ታሪክ እንስራ።

Tigray Republic flaunting her wealth at glittering TDA functions across the globe

Created by the dead enclave hero Meles Zenawi and officially known as the regional state of Tigray, state within a state and the birthplace of the current ruling party in Ethiopia, Tigre People Liberation Front/TPLF; Tigray republic is holding its glittering annual Tigray Development Association/TDA functions around the world with tyrannized and indigent Ethiopian taxpayers footing the huge bill.
After a weeklong music and dance spectacle in various US cities, where scrumptious meals and champagne were made available with gay abandon, TDA delegation led by the belligerent and the most feared TPLF warlord, Tigray republic president Abbay Woldu(pictured), arrived here in London for Saturday’s (24 August 2013 similar extravaganza) on Friday night.
After lavish welcoming ceremony and stopover at TPLF flag- adorned Ethiopian Embassy in London, the warlord headed to one of London’s expensive five star hotels in Mayfair’s Stratton Street with his massive Tigre entourage.
An Ethiopian business executive Ergibe Mekonnen, 48, a London resident for twenty years told the Horn Times that she spotted warlord Abbay Woldu late Saturday night at 51 Buckingham Gate with two female companions.
In addition, the Horn Times learned that as it was in the US last week, meetings and musical and cultural celebrations were only for the republic’s citizenry. Agendas and resolutions were top guarded secrets. No journalists from the exiled free press were allowed near the TDA festivals and paying Tigre members had to produce special barcoded TDA IDs to secure entrance.
Hence, it appeared difficult to verify the widespread rumor that if warlord Abbay Woldu indeed threatened Ethiopian Muslims and the opposition UDJ party with all-out military assault similar to the 2005 onslaught.
“Am sorry. I cannot go to a segregated ethnocentric celebration of a minority group. This is a sign of sheer madness and backwardness by TPLF warlords. We paid a huge price to overthrow the communist regime of Mengistu to see a better Ethiopia. Am an academic from Tigray. I supported Woyyane anticipating a united, democratic, and prosperous Ethiopia. Instead, look at what we are getting. A crazy warlord coming to London in the 21^st century to chair a meeting of his clan. What a shame.” A college professor based in the UK told the Horn Times asking us not to publish his name for security reasons.
“It is time for the people of Tigray to rise up and say to the warlords ‘NOT IN MY NAME’. When Meles Zenawi was still alive, we repeatedly raised the issue of putting Tigray first in every aspect should not be allowed to develop in to some sort of naked ethnic apartheid. That is what we see today. While Other Ethiopian resource- rich provinces struggle to hold their annual meetings at home how do resource- poor Tigray afford to stage multi-million dollar events in New York, Paris, and London? Moreover, if they have nothing to hide why exclude non-Tigre Ethiopians from attending the gathering? This does not auger well for the coming generations of Tigray. TPLF is ostracizing the people of Tigray.” The heavily bearded academic with pure British accent added.
Describing the TDA extravaganza held in Washington Dc and London repulsive, irresponsible, and shameful, another Tigray born medical practitioner who distanced himself from the profane clannish celebration said thieving TPLF warlords do not have both the wisdom and sensitivity to rule Ethiopia.
“As distance from the sea continues to hamper development, Ethiopia remains the second poorest nation in Africa after Niger. Millions go to bed hungry and a third world epidemic known as polio is spreading like wild fire. Shortage of hard currency is also making life unbearable in the land locked nation of 80-million. So tell me, what is there to celebrate? Ethiopians are in desperate need of a regime change. It is time for the outdated junta to leave.

To balance the report, the Horn Times then contacted the office of the president of the regional state of Tigray based in Mekele, Ethiopia as to find out  who funded warlord Abbay Woldu’s trip to the US and Europe. However, a certain Giday Solomon arrogantly refused to comment warning the Horn Times that referring to his boss as warlord is an insult to the dignity of the entire TPLF leadership.
After our daylong attempt to get hold of Washington and London based Tigray Development Association fat cats proved unsuccessful, the Horn Times finally contacted TPLF cash cow, EFFORT, one of huge TPLF owned companies capable of sponsoring multi-million dollar TPLF functions anywhere in the world.

Celebrating the Ethiopian flag – San Jose, California

San Jose, California [FLYER]  To celebrate the Ethiopian New Year and to honor the Ethiopian flag, the leaders and members of the Ethiopian American Council (EAC) are encouraging all Ethiopians, Ethiopian-Americans, and their friends and families to join them at the Ninth Annual Ceremonial Ethiopian Flag Raising at New City Hall of San Jose on Friday, September 6, at 4:00 p.m..
The flag raising will mark the beginning of a week-long celebration of the Ethiopian New Year. This special civic ceremony is a salute to the Ethiopian flag and a heartfelt remembrance of Ethiopian roots and heritage. San Jose is the only city in the nation to have established this traditional, annual acknowledgment of the heritage and history of Ethiopian-Americans. When the Ethiopian flag was first flown over New City Hall in 2005, it was an historical event in that no other foreign flag had been so honored in the history of the city.
The San Jose City Mayor, Vice-Mayor, and City Council Members will be in attendance. The EAC and the Ethiopian-American community at large are extremely appreciative of the time and the energy that city officials have devoted to this annual event. The United States and the City of San Jose have become welcoming and nurturing homes for countless members of the Ethiopian Diaspora. Because of the friendly American environment, our young people are flourishing. The ceremony will also honor entities that have helped.
The Young Ethio Jazz Band, under the leadership of Sirak Tegebaru, is becoming more professional and skilled everyday. The San Jose Maleda Soccer Team, consisting of 120 youngsters ranging in age from five-to-fifteen years, has enjoyed much well-earned success. AB’s Pre-School has been serving the Ethiopian community for 10 years and has assisted countless families by helping their youngsters move skillfully through American society while still retaining an appreciation of the Ethiopian homeland.
The Annual Ethiopian Flag Raising Festival is a celebratory event that gives Ethiopians, Ethiopian Americans, their families, and their supporters the chance to come together, not only to celebrate the New Year of the Ethiopian calendar, but also to stir the love of Ethiopia within the hearts of Ethiopians, so they will never forget their roots even though they may be far away from their motherland.
Last year, protests were lodged by the Ethiopian Consulate General in Los Angeles, and a Palo Alto business man because Ethiopians and Ethiopian Americans chose to use the Ethiopian Heritage Flag rather than the flag used by the current ruling party. The Ethiopian Heritage Flag is simply a three-color banner of green, yellow, and red. Red represents the blood of Ethiopian patriots, yellow the peace and harmony between Ethiopia’s various ethnic and religious groups, and green symbolizes hope, or the land and its fertility.
This flag does not signify any particular regime nor political party and is most revered by members of the Ethiopian Diaspora, especially Ethiopian-Americans. American institutions, churches, and community centers, especially here in San Jose, use this flag. Flags are supposed to be a source of unity and need not exalt any particular political purpose or program. Our three-color Ethiopian Heritage Flag is a source of identity to all Ethiopians regardless of their political fealty.
The Ethiopian Heritage flag has never flown under the banners of conquering colonial powers, so it is a symbol of pride to Ethiopians and Ethiopian-Americans, and a symbol of hope for other African nations as they struggle for self-governance and liberty. The EAC is extending thanks to the citizens of San Jose for their recognition of the diversity that has made this country so great, and for offering the Ethiopian-American community a time and place to come together and take pride in their heritage.
The EAC is encouraging other Ethiopian-Americans who are living in different states to do the same in their cities. Ethiopians and their friends and families who are living in the Bay Area are urged to dress in green, yellow, and red, and come celebrate with the societies and civic leaders at the flag raising and join them in the festivities that will follow.
Ethiopians, Ethiopian-Americans, and friends of Ethiopians will be stirred by this historic event that celebrates the flag, the nation, and the heritage of Ethiopia. The EAC and the civic leaders of San Jose are inviting all citizens to share in this solemn and celebratory ceremony at New City Hall, located at 200 East Santa Clara Street in San Jose on Friday, September 6, at 4:00 p.m..

በዚህ ሳምንት መጨረሻ በኢሳት የቀረበውን “ የእሁድ ወግ” ፕሮግራም ሳዳምጥ ነበር:: በዚሁ ፕሮግራም ከቀረቡት ዋና ዋና መወያያ ርዕሶች ውስጥ ሟቹ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር መለስ ዜናዊ ለኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ አጎናጸፉት እየተባለ ስለሚደሰኮረው ዕድገት የተሰጡት አስተያየቶች ትኩረቴን ስበውኝ ነበር:: በተለይ ሰውዬው (ከሳቸው የተማርኩት አባባል ስለሆነ ይቅርታ) ህዝቡን ጥጋብ በጥጋብ አደረጉት፣ ብዙ ሃብታም ገበሬዎችን ፈጠሩ፣ሚሊዮኖችን ከድህነት አረንቋ አላቀቁ ስለሚባለው አቶ ሲሳይ አጌና የሰጠው ምላሽ በጥሩ ትንተና የተደገፈ መሆኑ ያስደሰተኝ ሲሆን በዚች ትንሽ መጣጥፍ የበለጠ ማጠናከሪያ በመስጠት ፕሮፓጋንዳውን ለመሞገትና ምስኪኑ ህዝባችንም እውነታውን ራሱ ፈትሾ እውነቱን እንዲያውቅ ፈለኩ::
አቶ ሲሳይ ሙግቱን (argument) ሲያስረዳ፣ በእውነት የፕሮፓጋንዳ ማሽኖቹ በተደጋጋሚ እደሚነግሩን በእርሳቸው መጀን ኢኮኖሚያችን አድጎዋል ከተባለ ከ 80 በመቶ በላይ የሆነው ገበሬው ህዝባችን ኢኮኖሚው አድጓል ማለት ነው:: የገበሬዎች ገቢ ደግሞ አደገ ከተባለ ያ ሊሆን የቻለው ያመረቱቱትን ብዙ ምርት ወደገበያ አውጥተው ሸጠው ጥሩ ገቢ ሰብስበዋል ማለት ነው:: እነሱ ብዙ የእርሻ ምርት ወደ ሽያጭ አመጡ ማለት ደግሞ በየከተሞቹ በኢንዱትሪና አገልግሎት ዘርፎች እየሰራ የሚተዳደራው  ህዝባችን ከበቂ በላይ የምግብ አቅርቦት አግኝቷል ማለት ነው:: ገበሬዎች ገቢያቸው አደገ ማለት ደግሞ ከከተማው ኢንዱስትሪና አገልግሎት ዘርፎች የሚመረቱትን ምርቶች የመግዛት ፍላጎታቸውና አቅማቸው ጨምሩዋል ማለት ነው:: የነዚህ ዘርፎች መነቃቃት ደግሞ ምርታቸውን የበለጠ እንዲያድግ ያበረታታዋል የከተሜውም ገቢ ይጨምራል ማለት ነው:: የምግብና የኢንዱስትሪ ውጤቶች ምርት አቅርቦት (supply) ከፍላጎት (demand) በላይ ከሆነ ዋጋ አይጨምርም:: ወይም ደግሞ የምርት ፍላጎት እና አቅርቦት ከገቢ መጨመር ጋር በትይዩ (parallel) ሊያድጉ ከቻሉ በዋጋ ላይ ምንም ለውጥ አያመጡም ማለት ነው:: በአሁኗ ኢትዮጵያ ያለው እውነታ በተቃራኒው ስለመሆኑ ግን ይህን ሁሉ ትንታኔ ሳያስፈልገው አንድ ተራ ኢትዮጵያዊ እንኳን ሊያስራዳው የሚችለው ነው:: እየኖረበት ስላለው ድህነቱ ለመናገር የሮኬት ሳይንቲስት መሆን አያስፈልግምና::
የከተሜው ህዝብ የሚበላውን ዳቦና እንጀራ ከዛሬ 5 እና 6 ዓመት በፊት ከሚገዛበት ከ 4 እስከ 5 እጥፍ በላይ የሚሸምትበትና ከአለፈው ዓመት እንኳን በ 20 በመቶ ጭማሬ የሚሻማበት፣ የገጠሩ ህዝባችን የሚያስፈልገውን ጨው፣ስኳር፣ ዘይትና ለእርሻ የሚያስፈልጉት ማዳበሪያና ማራሻ መሳሪያዎች በተመሳሳይ ጭማሪ ዋጋ እየተንገታገተ የሚገዛበት ዋናው ምክንያት ገቢው “በአርቆ አሳቢውና ልማታዊው” መሪ አስተዋጽዖ በማደጉ ሳይሆን በተዝራከረከው፣ በጠባብ ብሄረተኛው፣ በሙናስና በተጨማለቀውና በአድሎአዊ አመራር ድክመት ምክንያት ከፍተኛ የምርት ፍላጎትና አቅርቦት ክፍተት (Supply and Demand Gap) በመፈጠሩ ነው:: ይህም ክፍተት የምርትና የሃብት እጥረትን (scarcity) ፈጥሯል:: ይህ እጥረትም ለዋጋ ንረቱ ዋነኛ አስተዋጽዎ አድርጓል::  ስለዚህ የምግብና የኢንዱስትሪ ምርት እጥረት በሰፈነበት አንጻር ዕድገት አለ ብሎ ማናፋት “እናንተ  ዓይናችሁን ጨፍኑ እኔ እንደፈለገኝ ላፏልል” እንደማለት ይቆጠራል::
የዓለም ባንክና ዓለምአቀፍ የገንዘብ ድርጅት የአገራችን ኢኮኖሚ “እንዳደገ” ቢነግሩን ሊደንቀን አይገባም:: እነዚህ ድርጅቶች በሁለት ዋና ዋና ምክንያቶች ወያኔ የሚሰጣቸውን መረጃ (data) ብቻ እየወሰዱ መልሰው እንደሚነግሩን መገንዘብ ይገባናል:: አንደኛው ሁለቱም የሚታዘዙት በአሜሪካ መንግስት ፍላጎት ነው:: አሜሪካ ከግማሽ በላይ የሚሆነውን የነዚህን ድርጅቶች በጀት የምትች ስለሆነች በድርጅቶቹ ህልውናና በሃላፊዎቹ ቅጥርና ዕድገት ላይ ወሳኝ ሚና አላት:: አሜሪካ ደግሞ አሸባሪነትን ለመዋጋት ወያኔን እንደ ፈለገች ስለምትጠቀምበት እሱን የሚነካባትን ሁሉ ድራሹን ማጥፋት ትችላላች:: በሁለተኛ ደረጃ ወያኔም ይህን ግንኙነትና መስተጋብር ስለሚያውቅ የኢኮኖሚ ፖሊሲህ ወይም የምታቀርበው የዕድገት መረጃህ ትክክል አይደለም ብለው የሚከራከሩ የባንኮቹ ሃላፊዎች ካሉ ከጣፋጩ ሥራቸው እንዲሰናበቱ ሊያደርግ ይችላል:: ስለዚህ ባንኮቹ ጉዳዩን ቢያውቁት እንኳን የተሰጣቸውን መረጃ ይዘው ከማዳረስ ሌላ ምንም አማራጭ የላቸው::
ለነገሩ ይህ የሚነገረን የተቀቀለና የበሰለ የዕድገት መረጃ ለጂኦፖለቲካዊ ፍጆታ ከመዋል በስተቀር ዓለም አሁንም ጠንቅቆ የሚያውቀን እስካሁን በመከራ፣ በድህነት፣ በበሽታ እንደምንማቅቅ ነው:: ይህንንም ያልኩበት ከሰሞኑ ከሥራዬ ጋር በተያያዘ አንድ የ Health Economics መጽሃፍ ሳነብ አንድ አሳዛኝ መረጃ ስላየሁ ነው:: በመጽሃፉ የኢትዮጵያ ምሳሌ የቀረበው እጥረት (scarcity) የተባለውን የኢኮኖሚ ንድፈ ሃሳብ (theory) በተግባር (Application) ለማስረዳት ታስቦ ነበር::  በዚህ ንድፈሃሳብ መሰረት የሃብት እጥረት የትም ሃገር አለ፣ በደሃውም በሃብታሙ ውስጥም አለ ይልና ነገር ግን ከእጥራትም እውነተኛ እጥረት አለ (There is scarcity and there is real scarcity) ያም በኢትዮጵያና በባንግላዴሽ በከፋ ሁኔታ ይታያል ብሎ ከነዝርዝር መረጃው ያስረዳል::

ይህ መረጃ በተጠቀሰው መጽሃፍ ላይ የቀረበው በአለም ዙሪያ ቢዝነስን ለሚማሩና ቢዝነስን ለሚሰሩ ሁሉ ያሁንዋን ኢትዮጵያ ከሌላ ሃገራት ጋር ሲነጻጸር እንዴት ማየት እንዳለባቸው ለማስረዳት ነው:: በሰንጠረዡ እንደታየው በኢንዱስትሪ የበለጸጉት አሜሪካና ጀርመኒ የነፍስ ወከፍ ገቢያቸው ከራሻና ብራዚል ከ3 እስከ 5 ጊዜ እጥፍ፣ከቻይናና አልባኒያ ከ 6 እስከ 8 ጊዜ እጥፍ፣ ከባንግላዴሽና ኢትዮጵያ ከ 83 እስከ 133 ጊዜ እጥፍ እንደሆነ፣ በዚህም ምክንያት ጤንነታቸውን ለመጠበቅ የሚያወጡት ወጪ ከፍተኛ እንደሆነ፣ስለዚህም በበሽታ የመጠቃት ዕድላቸውና የህጻናት ሞት መጠናቸው በጣም ዝቅተኛ እንደሆነ ሲያሳይ:: ኢትዮጵያን ደግሞ በዝቅተኛና እጥረት (በተሞላበት በቀን ከ 1 ዶላር በታች ገቢ) እንኳን ለጤንነታቸው በቂ ሊመድቡ የዕለት ምግብ ፍላጎታቸውን እንኳን ሊያሟሉ ባላመቻላቸው በቲቢ (Tuberculosis) በከፍተኛ ደረጃ ለመጠቃትና ለየህጻናት ሞት መዳረጋቸውንና በዚህ የተነሳ ረጅም ዕድሜ የመኖራቸው ዕድል ዝቅተኛ መሆኑን ያሳያል:: እንግዲህ ያሁንዋን ኢትዮጵያ ዓለም የሚያያት እንደዚህ ነው:: የዓለም ባንክ ሆነ የአሜሪካ መንግስት መጥቶ ይህ የጠላት ወሬ ነው ወይም የአክራሪ ተቃዋሚዎች የተሳሳተ መረጃ ነው ሊል አይችልም፣ወይም አይሞክርም::
ወያኔ የፈለገውን ያክል ያምታታ ወይም ረጂ ሃገራትን ለማባበል የፈለገውን ዓይነት የማክሮ ኢኮኖሚ (Macroeconomic) ማስተካከያ እርምጃ ይውሰድ፣ ነገር ግን ምርት እንዲጨምር ማድረግ ካልቻለና ፍትሃዊ የሃብት ክፍፍል የሚፈጥር መዋቅራዊ ለውጥ ካላደረገ የሚደሰኩረውን ዕድገት በእውን ሊያሳይ በጭራሽ አይችልም:: ዳሩ የሥርዓቱ ይሄ ሁሉ ፕሮፓጋዳ ከምሩ ለሁሉም ኢትዮጵያዊ ዕድገትን ለማጎናጸፍ ሳይሆን በፖለቲካውና በሰባዊ መብት ረገድ የሚሰራውን ግፍ ለመሸፈንና ይህን የዝርፊያና አንድ ብሄርን ብቻ በማበልጸግ አቅጣጫ የተያያዘውን ጉዞ እንዳይሰናከል የሚከላከልበት ዋነኛ መሣሪያው ስለሆነ ነው:: ከነሱ እጅ እውነተኛ ዕድገት ይመጣል ብሎ መጠበቅ የዋህነት ብቻ ሳይሆን ስንፍናና ፈሪነትም ጭምር ነው:: መፍትሄው ከቅርብ ወራት ወዲህ እየተጠናከረ የመጣውን የለውጥ እንቅስቃሴ አጣናክሮ በመቀጠል አገዛዙንና ሥርዓቱ መቀየር ብቻ ነው:: ይህ ብቻ ሲሆን ነው ዓለም አሁን የሚያውቃት መከረኛዋና ችግረኛዋ ኢትዮጵያ ልትለወጥ የምትችለው:: የፕሮፓጋዳ ዕድገት ግን ዘበት ብቻ ነው!!!
