The struggle for freedom and democracy in Ethiopia will always be the battle between truth tellers and liars. The rest of the sideshows are hideout for liars to justify their existence. Whether Woyane tyranny running its mouth or the so called neutral parties desensitize to swallow the lies for whatever reason, the fact remains they live a life of lies; making them more and more dangerous for society and the democratic movement.
They say “a mind is a terrible thing to waste.” Indeed, we Ethiopians like most Africans waste it plentifully. Likewise; lies are terrible nutrition to feed the mind. Indeed, we Ethiopians are fed lies in abandons and for too long. Therefore, the struggle for freedom is the battle to neutralize the institutions of lies in society, noting more to it.
As far as Ethiopians are concerned the one-and-only grand institutions of lies in existence is run by the ruling regime Woyane led by Berket Simon. The Government Communication Affair Office is where the lies are prepared and delivered all the way down to the distribution chain for Mass-consumption of massive lies. This nuisance in society is the means-and-ways of ethnic tyranny and the primary cause of political turmoil, poverty, corruption, poor governance and hopelessness. It must be dealt with systematically and sooner than later.
Zero-in on the Institutions of lies
In the 22 years rule, Woyane did more damage through its institution of lies than by the barrel of the gun, unlike many led to believe. The self-declared minority tyranny’s security apparatus simply reinforce the institutions of lies, not the other way around. This fact is evident when we explore the infrastructure of the lie factories run exclusively by TPLF operatives; starting from the Ministry, the Media and all the way to the national, regional and international distribution networks.
For too long political oppositions and civic organizations react to Woyane’s lies and the atrocities and the corruption that follows. Instead of proactively neutralizing the institutions of the lies they deal with the symptoms over-and-over again. For example, there are hardly any civic organizations that advocate freeing information institutions from the grip of the ethnic tyranny and neutralizing the lie factories but, reacting to one lie or another after the fact. Likewise, there was no a single independent Mass Media to counter the regime’s lie Mass-Medias until ESAT was established three years ago to neutralize it.
The need for independent advocacy group to proactively free the public institution from the jaw of ethnic tyranny and to advocate for free flow of information is needed now more than ever. There are Non Governmental organizations in other countries that can be examples of advocacy work. The Media Right Agenda in Nigeria, The Center for Media Studies and Peace Building (CEMESP) in Liberia and Institute of Mass Information of Ukraine are some we can learn from to advocate the free flow of information and Media freedom protection by exposing the lie factories of the regime and its operatives to Medias like ESAT.
Absence of opportunity to do it inside the country under Woyane tyranny Ethiopians in Diaspora can take the initiative to establish Freedom of information advocacy rescue public Media from the grips of the Woyane that use it to destabilize the population and inciting conflicts. In fact, ESAT is the best forum for advocacy group in all areas, including freeing information from the jaw of tyranny.
There are many organizations that assist Media advocacy group. Center for Media Assistant provides a list of organization to that end. Freedom of Information, the global network of freedom of information is good sources of networking opportunity for advocates and The Africa Freedom of Information Centre, a pan-African NGO is a resource centre to assist advocates in the rights of access to information, to mention the few.
Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT)
The establishment of ESAT is the long awaited beginning of truth telling and the beginning and the end of taking apart the institutions of lies. The daunting responsibility ESAT undertook for the first time in history shouldn’t be taken lightly nor reduced to only taking apart the factories of lies of the brazen Woyane tyranny that has been leech on society for too long. It is much…much more than we can imagine; as we are all causalities of the institutions of lies and its surrogate that live of off lies.
Simply put, ESAT is the end of tyranny as we know it and the beginning of liberty in peruse of happiness of our people. It is the means-to-the-end of individual freedom and responsibility. It is the way of mass cleansing of lies from mind and body inflected on our people. It is the public’s Weapon-of-Mass Distraction and a nightmare for tyrants, double-dealers, criminals and much more. It is also the dawn of civil conversation in the PUBLIC INTEREST. Love it or hate it, there is no way out of facing that truth.
I think Ethiopians haven’t grasped the power of ESAT yet. We haven’t fully eternalized the importance of its impact in body politics; a life-and-death issue to our people. If we did; we will be lined up in mass putting up every resource we got and more to support and encourage it to do even more because, ESAT single-handedly do more than we can do individually, collectively and institutionally combined. We don’t even understand the opportunity given to us to change the course of history for the better. Therefore, we ought to engage in discussions and organizing how to help ESAT; from galvanizing resources to fact gathering and promoting its service and more.
If you ask me, any political or civic organization that openly and willingly come on ESAT program earns creditability and respect. At the meantime, those that shy away from ESAT have creditably issue and questionable agenda. Be aware my people, the era of guerrilla business is over, if you can’t stand the grueling fire of public scrutiny find another line of work than backbiting.
In contrast, Woyane and its stooges that made a career out of lying understand ESAT better than most of us do. They are fully aware noting comes remotely close to frighten them than ESAT. Honestly, it is a dream come true to finally see grown up Woyane officials wetting their pants when the name ESAT is mentioned. Isn’t that how it supposes to work in Democracy? Then, I wonder why the supporters of Woyane are hiding behind one online Media or another; writing gibberish when they can come on ESAT and tell the whole world what they are doing with Woyane? Are they waiting the completion of the Abby Dam or the war with Egypt before they abandon Woyane?
For those attentive enough to follow up, Woyane spent more resource and time to undermine ESAT than anything else. Surprisingly, besides the usual suspects some naive Ethiopians are foolish enough to go along with it. Don’t blame them; they are causalities of the lie factories of Woyane. They will come around soon, they have no choice.
For example, look at the so called online Medias. How many even recognize the existence of the first and the largest independent public Mass Media network in the history of Ethiopia let alone use it as source of news. Look closer, how many ‘Medias’ use Woyane propaganda outlets as source than ESAT? Why?
I am particularly disappointed by the so called ‘independent’ Medias. They source news from Associated Press (AP), Reuters, BBC, Aljazeera… or international organizations even sometimes Woyane’s sources instead of ESAT, why?
The seventeen ‘independent’ online Media I surveyed randomly in the last week alone none, but only half a dozen use but only few site ESAT as a source of their news. Everyday ESAT people labor with an enormous cost to put out and provide easily accessible and credible information that matters to our people with little effort for the Media outlets to use but, few uses it or acknowledges its efforts by ignoring hot topics as if it doesn’t exist; instead of using it as their primary source. What is up with that?
You see my people, because we are desensitize by massive Woyane propaganda in many forms and shapes we aren’t thinking straight to do the right things. If most of the online Medias have creditability they must take news from the only Mass-Media source that matter and that can reach every Ethiopian allover the world, there is no excuse or if and but about it. Whether carelessness, apathy, lack of knowledge, detractive competition, falling for Woyane propaganda or whatever the reason may be most of online Medias failed their responsibility. To the minimum they should help promote Mass-Media infrastructure; starting from placing news from ESAT and providing its links if they don’t want to promote its services.
Questioning ESAT’s integrity?
In my opinion, before anyone asks the credibility of others they ought to have credibility themselves. So far I haven’t seen anyone with creditability questioning the integrity of ESAT. Those that do should come in public on ESAT lets hear their credibility than writing articles of hot air in hiding. If you ask me I haven’t seen any Ethiopian organization with the creditability of ESAT, period.
In the field of criminal investigation the first question investigators ask is, who most benefit out of the crime committed? And start their investigation from top down. In the same way, who benefits out of undermining and if possible closing down ESAT? The forensic evidence leads to the one and only suspect, Woyane. After unsuccessfully knocking out every satellite from orbit to disable ESAT from airing news to the people of Ethiopia the desperate Woyane turns into the usual gorilla tactics.
Incidentally, my own amateur investigations also lead me to find the forensic evidence pointing to Woyane’s suspects in cyber space. Tracing who-is-who in the business of online Media I found the gorillas’ throwing a firebomb and disappearing in the air to comeback with a different identity to do the same again. It is consistent with Woyane’s tactic of hit-and-run.
Associating ESAT with political group or foreign governments, undermining the people that work in ESAT in many ways than one, and diverting the public attention into something else by feeding false information are some of the new gorilla tactics the gorillas use. Obviously, any amateur knows the role Woyane’s operatives play in Diaspora. Now you know what the gorillas are up to you know what do every time you encounter gorillas badmouthing ESAT, for that matter anyone that scares Woyane to its pants.
My recommendation, besides smacking them on the face (I am joking but, if you feel like it…) ask them, what alternative they recommend, or, if they are willing to come-on ESAT and tell the same story in public. I assure you they will disappear at a speed of light to reappear with forged identity. In cyber space, especially the social Media is where the gorillas are active with multiple identities doing mass lying.
Ethiopians deserve the truth than the constant propaganda of the ethnic tyranny and its operatives. Those that swallowed the poison of Woyane need ESAT more than anybody else. It is for their own sanity and safety and they know it; running in search of a hiding place.
